THERE were six teams representing Yate Hockey Club on another packed weekend of action.
Yate Ladies 1s travelled to the University of Bath to take on the Bath Buccs 3rd team.
Yate opened the scoring when Katie Browne made a baseline run and crossed the ball into an empty circle for Zoe Vale to beat her defender and find the top left corner.
Yate then had several attempts at goal before the second arrived thanks to Isabella Joy's fine finish from a penalty corner.
However, Bath were quick on the counter and a quick break-away saw them score a quality goal off the back foot with a minute to go.
But it was not enough to affect the score and Yate held on for the victory.
Men’s 1s
Travelled to Bristol UWE 1s and came away on the wrong side of a 4-2 score line.
Men’s 2s
Played Bristol & West 5 away and won 3-2.
Ladies 3s
In a high-scoring match, both teams started strongly. Bristol and West Jaspers scored first early in the match but Yate equalised through Clare Kane.
Both teams exchanged further goals, with Nicola Bruce on target for Yate, but it was Bristol who led 3-2 at the break.
After the break, B&WJ scored twice, extending the lead to 5-2 but Alexandra Bessex pulled one back to give Yate hope.
But Bristol scored their sixth goal and that was the decisive blow, with the final score reading 6-3.
Yate Ladies over 35s played their first-round plate match against Old Bs over 35s at YOSC and lost 2-1.
Yate Mixed Team travelled to Swindon for a mixed cup match. In a competitive game, Yate lost 4-1.
