IT was another action-packed weekend of action across the board for Yate Hockey Club at the weekend.
Six senior teams were involved in games with other clubs, whilst the U12s took part in the Avon County Tournament.
Yate Ladies 1
Yate enjoyed a comfortable victory over Chippenham 1 at YOSC on Saturday.
Yate took the lead after three passes and five minutes when Isabella Joy fed the ball through to Kyishia Cooke, who found Millie Vale-Webb in the D and she beat the keeper from wide.
Chippenham showed their greatest threat early on but a number of saves from player of the match Ruby Gold maintained the lead for Yate.
Vale-Webb continued her scoring streak, connecting with Joy's penalty corner ball to score again.
Going into the second half 2-0 up, Yate maintained control throughout the half and entered the opposition D numerous times. With two minutes to go, they found their third when Katie Brown got herself onto the end of Ruth Belcher's cross to excellently power the ball past the keeper for a 3-0 win.
Yate Men's 1s
Yate lost 2-0 away at Whitchurch 2.
Yate Ladies 2s
Yate were unlucky to lose 2-1 away at Corsham 1. Yate took a 1-0 lead thanks to a goal from Nic Bruce, assisted by Kim Harris and Penny Kawecki. However, goals from the home side at the beginning of the second half and two minutes from time secured their win.
Yate Men's 2s
Yate hosted a Uni of Bristol development team in a non-league point fixture. As such, Yate took the opportunity to give some new players experience.
Yate had plenty of chances but the visitors were more clinical, winning 5-2. Goals for Yate came from Player of the match Alex R and Parrot.
Yate Ladies 3s
Yate lost 1-0 away to Dursley 1.
Yate Ladies Development
Yate played a very well-matched game against Bristol and West Jaspers Development at home.
Jaspers opened up the scoring after an interception. Some good passing hockey from Yate saw Penny Kawecki manage to equalise before half-time.
Unfortunately, Jaspers managed to get another goal 10 minutes before the end of the game to win 2-1.
Yate U12s
Yate's put in their best ever performance in the Avon County Tournament on Sunday, winning all of their group matches to proceed to the Shield knockout stages, where they lost 4-1 to Keynsham in the quarter-final.
