CHIPPING Sodbury bounced back from two successive last over defeats to emerge 174-run victors at home to Frocester 2nds to move up to sixth in WEPL’s Gloucestershire division.

Jamie Rendell had no hesitation in batting after winning the toss, and his side responded by piling up an imposing 309-9 from their 50 overs, led by Jiwanjot Singh who hit an impressive century and Jamie Wakefield who compiled a third successive half century.

In reply, Frocester lost wickets at regular intervals as their innings faded away.

Next up for Sodbury is a home date on Saturday against newcomers Langford (noon).

Sodbury 2nds succumbed to a four-wicket reverse away to Dymock, Calum Carter cracking an unbeaten 48 from 36 and following up with two wickets.

Sodbury 3rds, meanwhile, emerged five wicket victors away to Bohemians 2nds, Tom Febry leading the victory charge with 89 at the top of the order.

And it was a terrific day for Sodbury 4ths who completed a notable five-wicket home win against Hambrook 3rds.

The visitors were pegged back to  154-7, Kalel Caswell claiming 2-23, before 15-year-old opener Will Mountjoy batted with great assurance, completing his maiden senior 50 to finish unbeaten on 69 and share an unbroken stand of 83 with Charlie Walker (41).
