Cam 1st XI 227-4 beat Shurdington 1st XI 226-9 by 6 wickets
Cam secured back to back victories with a 6 wicket away win at Shurdington.
Having elected to bowl first, Cam’s new ball pair of George Dolling and Alex Atkinson couldn’t find the early breakthrough as the opening batsmen rode their luck in amassing a 105 run partnership for the first wicket.
Jonny Hayward kept things tight once again but couldn’t find the desired breakthrough, and it was through the pairing of Alex Ballard and first team debutant Joe Pearson that Cam found success.
Ballard removed both openers Styman (56) and Baldwin (33), before Pearson struck in his first over with George Parrott taking the first of his two catches.
Ballard (4-39) struck another double blow soon after, before Pearson (2-36) collected his second as the Shurdington middle order collapsed, losing 6 wickets for 44 runs.
With Cam now in the ascendency at 149-6, White (24) and Henley (50) staged a recovery for the home side, before a smart bit of fielding by Tom Deakin saw the latter run out just after reaching his half century.
George Dolling (2-52) returned to the attack and collected two late wickets as Shurdington were restricted to 226-9 from their 45 overs.
George Parrott and Sam Buck started off solidly in reply for Cam, with Parrott dominating the scoring as he crashed 8 boundaries before falling for 40.
Buck fell shortly after for a more serene 17 before Deakin was bowled for 6 to leave Cam on 89-3 just before the halfway stage.
Ryan Malpass and Ed Paddock continued to tick things over for Cam, before the former became the third wicket for Styman (3-46) as he was caught for 25. Ballard joined Paddock at the crease with 114 runs still required for victory.
The pair made light work of the total as they increased the scoring rate and found regular boundaries to see the away side ease to victory with more than 5 overs remaining.
Paddock finished unbeaten on 60 while Ballard ended on 49 not out to seal a satisfying win and elevate Cam to joint 4th in the league.
