GYMNASTS from Thornbury are leaping for joy after recent success at a regional competition.

Ten children from Kestrel Acrobatics and Tumbling Gymnastics took part in the South West Regional Tumbling competition on Sunday, October 13.

In total, the club came away with three medals at the competition held at Newton Abbot Gymnastics Club.

Head coach Lyn Kebaletwse-Price said: “This competition saw gymnasts from across the South West perform in different categories in the hope of making it onto the podium.

“Gymnasts from Kestrel’s junior and elite tumbling teams made the early-morning journey down to Newton Abbot, many of them competing for the first time.

“Summer finished with a bronze medal in the club level four, age 11-12 category, beating stiff competition in the most challenging difficulty level of the competition.

“In the club level four, age 8 (male) category, Eric completed a solid three tumbles and came away with a gold medal.

“Lemonie performed wonderfully and came away with fifth in the club level 1, age 11 category, securing the highest marks for her first run.

“Well done too to Daisy, Amy, Eleanor, Frankie, Everly, and Anna, all of whom performed incredibly well.

“All of Kestrel’s gymnasts should be very proud of themselves for this competition.”

The club trains at Thornbury Leisure Centre and the Methodist Church Hall.
