TEAM mentor Jack Russell is hoping Gloucestershire can get their season back on track as they prepare for their opening NatWest Pro40match tonight.
The Gladiators visit Lancashire Lightning at Old Trafford in a day/night match which is due to be televised on Sky Sports 1 from 4.30pm.
Russell said: "The players are looking forward to the second half of the season with renewed determination to improve on performances.
"As for the Pro40 it is exciting to start a fresh competition. Everyone will be endeavouring to take the good form from the Friends Provident Trophy into the Pro40."
Gloucestershire Gladiators have named a 14-man squad for the trip, which includes both wicket keepers, Steve Snell and Steve Adshead.
Snell has been first choice in the county championship this season and his excellent form has brought him into contention for a start this evening.
Adshead has performed well in the one-day matches this season, although he might be used as a batsman only for the clash.
Anthony Ireland and Ian Saxelby have both been left out despite their last stand heroics on Monday when they rescued a draw for Gloucestershire against Middlesex in the county championship.
There are recalls for Mark Hardinges, Will Rudge, and Ian Fisher, who are all due to be released at the end of the season.
Lancashire are without Andrew Flintoff after his recall to the England squad, but include high profile names such as Australian Stuart Law, and ex-England internationals Dominic Cork and Sajid Mahmood.
