3-D Sports Gloucestershire County Cricket League division three; Cam (145 all out) lost to Gloucester A.I.W (146-7)
CAM suffered their second defeat of the season in a heated confrontation with Gloucester A.I.W.
Playing without batsmen Scott Kalus and Tom Deakin, Cam were asked to bat first on a green wicket and immediately found it hard to score runs.
Captain Pete Hall tried to lift the run rate but was caught backward of square for 16.
Ben Williams was the next man out, lifting a ball to mid-off without scoring.
Adam Holloway dug in but was caught for 14 leaving the score 35-3.
Graeme Brown and Gareth Udal built a solid partnership and began to re-build the innings for Cam. Brown played shots neatly behind square and Udal played the balls into the gaps.
With ten overs to go, Brown tried to increase the run rate but was caught off a lead edge for 19.
Ryan Chandler quickly struck 12 before being bowled and was soon followed by Adam Philp for two.
Ady Wood (7) and Steve Rice (6) supported Udal as the tail was called to bat for the first time this season.
Eddie Rendall was caught without scoring. Steve Ballard tried to steer Cam to an extra batting point with a couple of boundaries but Cam fell short as Udal was run out for 43 from the last ball.
With only 145 to defend, early wickets were needed and Rendall was able to claim the opening wicket after a catch from Chandler at gully.
Two overs later, Rendall removed Master and Imran, both for 18, after a caught and bowled and a catch from Udal.
A fourth wicket came in the following Rendall over leaving the score on 49-4.
Chandler claimed a wicket after a catch from Graeme Brown and in the same over Ben Williams ran out Topia leaving the score 60-6.
The following over a run out and stumping decision went against Cam and the momentum changed as A.I.W were lifted, whilst Cam players were incensed.
Bhayait kept a cool head to reach 50 but was bowled by Ballard quickly after.
However, the damage had already been done and A.I.W knocked off the last couple of runs needed for victory in the next over.
