CHIPPING SODBURY produced a second half comeback to prevent Dursley from ending their league season with a victory.
Dursley entered the fray with a much-changed squad - without captain Brad Winchle but with Josh Case making his first team debut and father and son props Chris and George Sheldon.
Dursley put their first score on the board minutes into the match from a well anticipated interception try from their own 22 by outside centre Jak Evans, converted by fly half Andy Sprague.
Five minutes later Chipping Sodbury countered and were awarded a penalty in front of the posts when Dursley were judged to go over the top at the breakdown which was converted by Steven Romanowski.
Dursley quickly responded with a penalty of their own from Sprague.
The physicality of the game came to the fore with Sodbury’s loosehead prop being sent to the bin for inappropriate use of the boot.
Halfway through the first half, full back Alex Pain, who had been strong under the high ball, scored following pressure from a lineout, again converted by Sprague.
Well into injury time Phillip Player scored a try for Chipping Sodbury to reduce the deficit at half time to 17-8.
Sodbury started the second half strongly and Stephen Hopes was awarded a try. Bernard McMullen then went over to put them in the lead. Romanowski converted both tries.
Numbers on the field were reduced when Niblett and the Sobury No 8 were sent to the bin.
Winger Joe Bilous made a good break on the wing but the opposition winger was more fleet of foot and tackled him metres short of the line.
With five minutes to go Sprague kicked a further penalty to narrow the gap.
The Sodbury squad were reduced to 14 men with a red card to one of their second row players but Dursley were unable to make use of the extra man.
