DURSLEY TOWN’S bid for a top three finish in Northern Senior One looks unlikely to succeed despite a fourth consecutive clean sheet.
Chris Dolbear’s side could only draw 0-0 with lowly Ramblers on Saturday - their second such result in three matches.
Town’s defensive unit of goalkeeper Keith Watson, the back four of Phil Miles, Simon Miles, Sean Clune and Chris Lindsay and midfield anchor Lee Thomas have now gone six and three-quarter hours since last conceding a goal.
Although far from dominant, the visitors had the better of the game, but struggled to create chances throughout the 90 minutes.
Martin Booth had two shots beaten away by the goalkeeper in the opening 25 minutes, but thereafter they barely had a shot on target.
Ramblers came into the game around the half-hour mark, forcing Watson to make two saves, while three headers went wide from corners.
The home side hit the bar with a looping header early in the second half, but Dursley re-asserted themselves from there.
As Ramblers tired, Town earned a plethora of free-kicks, but they were all fired over the crossbar, while a couple of shots from substitute Maz Meta also missed the target.
The home side had a man sent off for a second booking with ten minutes left, but Dursley could not take advantage and had to settle for a point as one final effort from Aaron Booth was deflected over the bar.
Manager Dolbear said: “If we want to go on and win leagues and cups in the future then these are the types of games we need to learn how to win. We didn’t do enough today.”
Dursley: K Watson, P Miles, S Miles, S Clune, C Lindsay, A Nash, L Thomas, A Booth, S Bennett, K Nash (M Meta 70), M Booth.
