DURSLEY TOWN blew the race for the Northern Senior One title wide open with a tremendous victory at leaders Longlevens.
While Town themselves are unlikely to catch the long-time pacesetters, the result was certainly welcomed by championship challengers Kingswood and Brimscombe.
Town manager Chris Dolbear said: “It is really pleasing to come to the league leaders and show them how well we can play.”
Longlevens took the lead inside five minutes when Lee Allen smashed in a right-wing pull back and the home side dominated the remainder of the half.
The lead should certainly have been doubled on the half hour when Chris Lindsay brought down Gary Ash in the box after Keith Watson’s throw-out put Phil Miles in trouble, but Watson saved Danny Hunt’s spot-kick low to his left.
Dursley equalised soon after the break when substitute Aaron Booth headed Steve Bennett’s free-kick goalwards with his first touch and Lindsay finished the job off from close range.
However, the home side went back in front on the hour when Rich Crowcombe was harshly adjudged to have fouled Craig Martin in the penalty area and this time Hunt smashed his spot-kick down the middle.
The equaliser arrived 15 minutes from time when Karl Nash swung over a corner from the right and Sean Clune met it flush with his knee to score his first goal for the club from six yards.
Dursley went ahead after 85 minutes when Nash crossed from the left for Maz Meta to power a header into the corner of the net.
Town wrapped up victory in injury-time when Nash shot from the touchline for an outrageous goal.
