FOUR Dursley youngsters helped Gloucestershire reach Twickenham, where they will meet Yorkshire in a repeat of last year’s final on May 9.

Stef Hawley, Robbie Winchle, Ollie Winterbottom and Jack Robson - all of whom came through the youth ranks at Dursley rugby club - helped the county overcome a spirited Leicestershire side at Vipers RFC, Leicester.

Another Dursley youngster, Ben Morgan, who has recently signed a contract with Llanelli Scarlets, will also play in the final.

The outstanding Jack Preece jinked his way over within six minutes for an unconverted try following some slick handling to put Gloucestershire ahead.

Three minutes later Jimmy Williams and George Watkins combined to send Harrison Tovey in for a second unconverted try.

A third try came when Harris Casson powered over after 20 minutes.

A fourth try arrived when Preece received an adroit inside pass by fellow flanker Will Foden and scampered home from 30 metres for a try under the posts. George Watkins converted.

The home side roared back in the second half and their three quarters engineered an excellent try as they cantered through some lazy Gloucestershire tackling.

Within minutes the home side’s revival gathered real momentum when poor play by Gloucestershire on the retreat from a fine kick and chase by Leicestershire, enabled the home side to snaffle the loose ball, and five phases later they scored under the posts for a converted try.

Again Leicestershire pressed but the crucial and ultimately decisive moment of the match came as a speculative Leicestershire pass was picked off by Gloucestershire’s Kristian Cook who ran 70 metres for a try. Watkins converted and victory for the visitors seemed assured.

With the last play of the match Reuben Haile surged past a tired Leicestershire defence for a sixth try. Joe Hall converted.
