TYTHERINGTON ROCKS were beaten by League leaders Hardwicke, and their winner was a cheap goal.
Although Hardwicke were in charge during the first half, Tytherington goalkeeper Rob Dent and his defenders did everything to stop the home team going ahead.
Some Rocks followers were thinking that a goal less draw was on, but in the 56th minute that was changed when Hardwicke were presented by a soft goal to pinch the points.
Dent, who had make a handful of stunning saves before, threw the ball towards Ross Irwin in the right back berth. Hardwicke left-winger Paul Carter picked up the ball from Irwins’ feet and from his accurate cross Andy Varnham was there to head home the winner from close range.
Rocks came back in the latter stages with defender Phil Ward up front, but Hardwicke, who have only been beaten twice this season and conceded 14 goals, did enough to earn another clean sheet.
Tytherington chairman Ted Travell said: “Hardwicke are the best team in this league and are good champions. We gave them a good game today, we gave them a lucky goal and that was enough because we never looked as if we could come back.”
