BOWLER Ian Saxelby gave a glimpse into his promising talent with four wickets in Gloucestershire’s convincing Friends Provident Trophy win over Surrey.
The 19-year-old ended with figures of 7.2-1-31-4 as Surrey were bowled out for 140 at Bristol, 128 runs short after Gloucestershire posted 268-9 when put into bat.
Opener Will Porterfield made 74 from 84 balls and Chris Taylor scored 63 off 58 balls as the county recovered from a slow start when they were reduced to 29-2. South African international Andre Nel took 3-39 for Surrey.
The visitors never really got going in reply with Saxelby doing most of the damage but he was well supported by the other bowlers with the other wickets going to Steve Kirby (1-14), Alex Gidman (2-29) and Vikram Banerjee (2-34).
Usman Afzaal (36) was the only batsman to offer some sort of resistance as the county made it two wins out of two to top their group.
