SWINDON needed at least a draw going into the game on Saturday so they came at us early on.
It was quite a lively game with a lot of action but the early goal killed us. There was a misjudgement between Byron Anthony and Steve Phillips and they collided. Their striker was there to knock it in so it wasn’t good for us to concede an early goal. We managed to bounce back and got a bit of a lucky goal from Darryl Duffy that brought it to 1-1. Unfortunately Swindon finished a chance we shouldn’t have let them have to win the game.
We play Hartlepool on Saturday and it’s a game we definitely want to win to finish off the season well. We want to finish as high as we can and it would be nice to look back and see we did alright and pushed on from last year so we’ll try and make that happen.
I think Hartlepool will come at us quickly as they are another team hanging on to stay up so they’ll be looking for three points. Even though we’ve had nothing to play for lately, we’ve still played well and kept our motivation to get as many points as possible and we want to play well again.
We are all pleased for Rickie Lambert for getting in the league’s team of the year. He’s shown amazing ability this year and fully deserves it. His flick-ons are great, you know he’s going to win headers, he’s a good finisher - he’s going to put his chances away and he’s scored some amazing goals this season.
