IT FELT like an end of season game against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday with nothing to play for.
We played very well in the first half, scored a great goal but it was the story of our season as we conceded a late goal. At home, we can’t quite get the three points and that has cost us a play-off place. Sheffield Wednesday didn’t have too much of the game but they scored from a free kick and that’s been our luck at home.
We all went on at the end and clapped the fans. Thousands of them stayed back so it was nice to be involved in that, to feel part of the squad again and to get back into it.
Everyone was pleased for Scott Murray to get on for what was probably his last game at Ashton Gate. He’s a fantastic person, a great pro and you can see why the fans applauded him and showed their appreciation - he deserves it. He’s scored so many goals and played so many games. It’s been fantastic to play with him in the reserves and against him in training.
It’s been well publicised that Dele Adebola is leaving. He’s still such a handful, he puts himself about well and we’ll miss him. But that’s football, sometimes you lose players but we’ve got to get on with it and not dwell on it.
We’ve got one massive game left. If Burnley don’t beat us they could drop off from the play-offs and we’ll still be treating it as an important game. The game is on Sunday so we’ve got all week to prepare. We beat them last year so we’ll go there full of confidence and because it’s such a big game everyone’s keen to be involved and a lot of clubs will be looking at us to cause an upset.
