SLIMBRIDGE took Toolstation Western Premier League champions Bitton all the way in the GFA Challenge Trophy final before losing in extra-time at Oaklands Park, Almondsbury.
Matt Knapman put Bitton ahead on 11 minutes when he crashed in a powerful drive from 25 yards.
Marvyn Roberts equalised for Slimbridge from a goalmouth scramble with 20 minutes remaining.
The game couldn’t be settled after 90 minutes but Mark Reynolds scored Bitton’s winner with eight minutes left of extra-time.
Slimbridge take on Tuffley Rovers in the County League on Saturday at Wisloe Road (3pm), needing one point to secure the title.
