FILTON College have been crowned champions of Britain.
This is the second national title of the season for the Bristol-based college after retaining the National 15-a-side festival trophy (St. Joseph’s Festival) earlier in the season.
They reached the final of the British Colleges Cup for only the second time in the ir history.
Latter stage victories over Swansea College, Exeter College and local rivals Hartpury College had set up a mouth watering final against an Oaklands side boasting several London Saracens Academy players and apprentices and three England under-18s but Filton won the game emphatically.
Andrew Webb, Head of Rugby, said: “This was a massive achievement by the boys and I am very proud of what this squad of players has achieved this season.
“After winning the St. Josephs Festival back in October I didn’t think it could get any better. This side just seems to know how to raise themselves and win the important games.”
In March, Filton were crowned British Colleges South West Premier League Champions and Middlesex Sevens winners.
