ALMONDSBURY’s poor start to the season continued on Saturday when they lost to Chew Magna by 56 runs.
Skipper Tom Armfield won the toss and inserted the visitors on a track which was more than helpful to the seamers.
Armfield virtually singlehandedly had Chew Magna reeling at 66-9 until the last pair took the score to 130-9 by the end of the allotted overs.
Armfield returned remarkable figures of 15-5-22-7 with only Ross Wakley (15-3-42-2) giving his skipper any real support. In reply, only Wakley (21) showed any hope of surpassing the visitors total.
When he was out, Almondsbury’s innings collapsed to 74 all out, meaning that they are still without a league win this season.
