A SENSIBLE team batting display from the Cam middle order secured a comfortable victory over Charfield.

Eddie Rendall was unlucky not to claim a wicket with the opening ball of the game as the ball tantalisingly dropped out of Graeme Brown’s reach.

With Gareth Udal bowling tight from one end, Rendall claimed the first two wickets in consecutive balls.

The third wicket followed for Rendall with a catch from Nathan Allen at point.

The only real resistance from Charfield came in the way of Bryan, who managed to find the gaps in the field on his way to 72.

Udal returned to the attack and claimed two quick wickets.

Rendall managed to claim another two victims leaving him with figures of 5-33.

Steve Rice and Ballard both bowled tightly with little luck. The final wicket came off the last ball as Udal ran out Newman for 17.

Cam’s innings started steadily with Scott Kalus and Adam Holloway batting sensibly against the attack of the experienced Walwin, and Moran.

Kalus (12) was the first to go with the score on 29. Holloway followed in the 15th over for 15.

Ben Williams and Udal built a steady partnership and continually ticked the board over.

Williams again looked comfortable before being stumped for 34.

Captain Pete Hall continued the steady run rate, finding the boundary through the slow outfield whilst Udal continued to bat with confidence.

With eight overs remaining and 40 runs needed, Udal had a rush of blood and was caught off the bowling of Newman for 27.

Tom Deakin (11*) entered the middle and immediately crashed the ball to the boundary.

He and Hall (35*) steered Cam past the target with five overs to spare and six wickets in hand.

The winning runs came from another Deakin boundary.
