STONE player Vicky Ball claimed a five-wicket haul at Lord’s recently.
The 20-year-old had match winning figures of ten overs, three maidens, five wickets for 35 runs for Loughborough University Ladies against the MCC Universities Best of the Rest XI.
Ball, a product of Stone’s youth set up, has been in the Loughborough Cricket Academy with Head Coach Graham Dilley while doing her degree. She also plays for Bath Ladies and has recently been selected by Somerset Cricket Club.
During her time at Loughborough she has been lucky enough to win five BUSA gold medals for cricket, two of which were for the indoor version of the game.
After a steady start by the opposition, Ball’s leg spin led to a dismissal with her second ball but the turning point was the dismissal of opener Sophie Le Marchand who was stumped for 59.
The Best XI were all out for 203 in 47 overs.
Loughborough proceeded to make short work of hitting the required score for the loss of just one wicket with Loughborough’s Emily Marriot hitting 98 not out.
Presentations were made by ex-England captain Michael Smith in the Long room after the game.
