GARY GREEN has lost his job as the boss of Bristol Academy’s women’s football side as a result of financial cuts.
After nine years at the Women’s Premier League club, five as manager, Green is understood to have been made redundant from his role at Filton College.
Simon Panes, director of sports academies at Filton College, said: “We get funding from the FA for the Centre of Excellence and from the Skills Council for the 16-19s, but no funding for the senior side.
“The college was funding Gary’s position, and the senior side was taking up more and more of his time.”
Green’s role will be taken over on a temporary basis by Centre of Excellence director Mark Sampson.
