FOREST GREEN striker Andy Mangan will appear before the FA on betting charges on Friday, August 7 - the day before the new Blue Square Premier season kicks-off.

The 22-year-old is one of five players charged with betting on a victory for Bury against Accrington Stanley in the final game of the 2007-08 season.

Then a Bury player, Mangan is alleged to have placed £3,500 on his team to win at Accrington-which they duly did 2-0.

All five men have denied the charges, with the hearing originally due to take place on July 20. The rearranged date means the out-of-contract Mangan faces another month of uncertainty.

However, Mangan is set to play for Forest Green against Charlton at the New Lawn on Saturday, 3pm.

Meanwhile, Forest Green have completed the signing of 23-year-old right-sided defender Andy Taylor.

Taylor originates from Liverpool and spent the last two seasons in Texas, USA with Austin Aztex, where he was a fans favourite with the nickname of "Snacks".

Aztex are affiliated to Premier League Stoke City and play in the second tier of the United States soccer league.

They are managed by former Everton and Burnley striker Adrian Heath.

Hartpury College quartet Jon Else, James Baldwin, Ben Pugh and Steve Davies have signed non-contract terms at Rovers. Baldwin and Pugh were also at Shortwood United last season.

Curtis McDonald has also been registered for a second season at the New Lawn.
