ALMONDSBURY travelled to the delightful setting of Chew Magna on Saturday and came away well beaten by their hosts.
Skipper Tom Armfield decided to field but the home side saw off the new ball and amassed 176-9 off their 45 overs.
Armfield bowled well throughout, claiming three wickets from a tight 15-over spell, and he was well backed up by Steve Braund with 5-65.
The home side then bowled with accuracy and reduced Almondsbury to 37-7, a position from which they did not recover.
However, Steve Braund, who was carrying a leg injury, opened his shoulders with good effect but Almondsbury were eventually all out for 85 leaving Tom Armfield’s side looking over their shoulders at the relegation area.
In the seconds, Mike Smith’s side were involved in a thrilling contest.
Chew Magna amassed 222-3 off their allotted overs with Locke scoring 117 and Smith himself claiming 2-44 off ten overs.
Almondsbury completed a nail-biting two-wicket victory with runs spread throughout the side.
Luke Whittiker (60), Josh Slade (40), and Jack Kewley (34), all supplied significant contributions with Paul Beevers (16), David Bow (16) and Mike Perham (15*) seeing Almondsbury home.
