CHIPPING SODBURY'S Greenpower team achieved a one-two finish at the Goodwood racing circuit, Sussex for the Goodwood heat of the 2009 Greenpower challenge.
With nearly 120 miles completed in the four hour race using only four standard car batteries, Chipping Sodbury School beat over 30 other school cars in the heat and are now placed as second and third in the national series with 115 cars having competed so far across the country.
Three school teams, with four cars, competed in the Central South Heat.
In the F24+ race, for over 16-year-olds Y-Pod?! achieved an impressive fourth place. The Wacky Racers showed excellent reliability and finished in a highly credible 9th place.
In the main F24 race, R-PodS SSC came through first with Rotary Racer just over a lap behind in second place.
To show how impressive the victory was, the rest of the field was over 15 miles behind at the end of the four hours.
R-PodS SSC also received the ‘best presented team’ award and Y-Pod?! was awarded the ‘most innovative use of recycled materials’ award.
