HAMMER thrower Zoe Derham has been chosen for the Great Britain team for the World Championships in Berlin.

Derham, 28, (pictured) who was born in Charfield and grew up in Yate, won the British trials in July with a throw of 67.94 metres.

But her selection was certainly welcome and ended a very nervous wait for Olympian who is coached by former Commonwealth champion Lorraine Shaw at Blackbridge in Gloucester.

"Zoe has been stressing over selection for the past two weeks so it is very good news," said Shaw. "She didn’t have the A standard and we were not sure whether she would get picked.”
