MY job now is to make sure all my players are informed and to then structure the days leading up to the re-arranged FA Cup game at Notts County on Tuesday night.
With no game this weekend it will give our injured players more time to recover.
We will give it a right real go at Notts County and hope to make history and take Forest Green into the fourth round and a home tie against Premiership Wigan. It’s a lovely draw, but it seems a long way off, to be honest.
However, it will be important to calm things down and then build the intensity of the training back up to a crescendo prior to the FA Cup tie.
I have made four short-term emergency signings in former Swindon defender Jack Winter, midfielder Ben Osman, son of ex-Bristol City defender and manager Russell Osman, and former York City striker Tyrone Berry. I had hoped to bring in another striker in Exeter City’s Ben Watson on loan for a month, but he sustained a calf injury during training and the deal has since been cancelled.
Meanwhile, after our 3-1 win over Salisbury City on Boxing Day the players were in bright and early for a recovery session at the New Lawn the following day. The journey on Bank Holiday Monday to Tamworth saw fog descend and the temperature drop below zero.
There are road accidents and delays everywhere and the players assembled later than normal.
We started very brightly and totally dominated the opening half and yet failed to capitalise on our advantage At half-time I talked about body language and remaining confident and keeping the tempo high as we looked so much sharper than the hosts.
The second half started with a couple of scares which we saw out and this period was much more even with neither side able to get the all important winning goal.
I would have taken a draw before the match and yet afterwards we were disappointed as it is a game we should have won.
Nevertheless, seven points from a possible nine and we are looking a much more confident outfit.
