FRAMPTON COTTERELL were one of the only teams to beat the weather on Saturday but they were unable to beat Old Colstonians, who moved to the top of Gloucester Premier.
The match, due to be staged at Colston School, was switched at the last moment to Hooper’s Farm at Frampton, where exposure to sunlight had made the ground just about playable despite the freezing conditions.
Two penalties from fly-half George Burrows notched two penalties and fullback Grant Williams scored a try in the corner to five Colstonians an 11-3 lead at half-time.
After the break, an Anthony Burrows penalty and centre Will Read’s try sealed the win for Colstonians.
Frampton remain eighth in the table after their sixth defeat of the season and, if they avoid becoming victims of the big freeze again, they will visit Bristol Saracens on Saturday.
In Gloucester One, bottom club Chipping Sodbury are due to visit local rivals Dursley. Sodbury lost the reverse fixture 29-5 in October.
