THE ECB have formally recognised Rockhampton’s continued efforts to develop the provision of cricket in the local community by granting them Focus Club status.
The last three years have seen a rapid growth in Rockhampton’s support to youth cricket by providing support to local schools, youth groups and hosting Gloucestershire County matches.
Also their senior teams have continued to perform well, ably supported by excellent facilities and infrastructure.
Chairman Rupert Fergie-Woods spoke of his “delight at what the club has achieved and how it’s been a real team effort.”
The ECB Clubmark process enabled the club to review and acknowledge existing as well as implement new practices across four development themes culminating in the production of a Club Development Plan.
In achieving this, Rockhampton will not stand still.
Fergie-Woods added: “2010 will be a busy and demanding year at the club with plans to upgrade the existing outdoor nets, renovate the Common Ground Pavilion and develop further the already strong coaching at the Club.
“Also we will build further our partnerships with nearby cricket clubs, local schools and community groups with a view to developing a cricketing centre of excellence in the area.
That said we will require the services of volunteers/supporters and to get this going a Cricketforce weekend is planned for the end of March.”
