DAVID STOKES will turn the clock back nearly 40 years when he does the Team GMF Wyedean Forest Rally on Saturday, February 13, writes Paul Willetts.

“I think it was 1969 or 70 when I first tackled stages in the Forest of Dean on the old Tour of Dean,” said Stokes.

“I remember finishing second to Graham Elsmore on the very first Wyedean in 1975, third in 78 but I crashed out in 79, my last proper attempt at the event.

“A lot of events used the Dean back in those days, I’m sure the Forests roads are a lot wider nowadays than back then”

The Dursley baker’s plans for 2010 again revolve around the British Historic Series plus selected rounds of the Welsh Historic Championship.

Stokes, who finished runner-up in both Championships in 2009, will finish the year with another attempt at the Roger Albert Clark Rally.

Guy Weaver will continue to co-drive with the Draycott Bakeries backing the car for the year.
