WOTTON ROVERS hosted top of the league Tetbury Town on Saturday. Tetbury started the game the livelier out of the two teams, causing Wotton problems from set pieces and coming close on more than one occasion.
If not for the confident display of goalkeeping by Dan Blackwell, the home side could have been behind early on.
Gradually Wotton found their shape and edged back into the game due to hard work by the midfield, led by an energetic Danny Tomlin covering a lot of the ground. It was obvious that the strength of Tetbury lay with their attacking presence with a lot of the play going directly to the two front men. Only the solid defensive work of Graham and Hemings kept them at bay. Deep into the second half, two poorly timed tackles in the area gave the away side the chance to convert expertly on both occasions, leaving Blackwell with no answer. This was a disappointing result for bottom but one side Wotton as their league position does not reflect the standard of football being played .
