Oldlands saw their league campaign get off to a great start at Abwell on Saturday with a crushing victory over Ruardean Hill.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, the Forest outfit were soon in trouble against the home attack, with Mike Colborn leading the way with an impressive opening spell of 4-8 from a hostile eight overs.
With Dave Walton picking up three wickets, with two for Sean Rocke and one for Brad Thomas, and with only one batsman reaching double figures, the final victory target for the home side was only 49.
This was achieved in emphatic style with the only wicket lost the run out of the in-form George Pennington for 18.
Brad Thomas (18*) and Steve Heaven (11*) then saw the O’s comfortably through to a very satisfying 21-point victory.
Division Eight Poulton 2nds (149) lost to Oldlands 2nds (207-3) by 58 runs The seconds continued their fine start to the season with a convincing victory at Poulton on Saturday.
After being put in to bat the visitors were soon looking to build a challenging total with veteran opener Terry Watkins leading the way with an unbeaten 108.
With excellent support from Gary Gayner (20), Gary Woodward (35), Pete Waite (21) and skipper Jim Wright (13*) the innings finally closed on 207-3.
In reply, the home side never really threatened to chase down the Oldlands score and with Waite (3-24) and Stuart Reeve (4-21) leading the way, the home side were eventually dismissed for 149.
