THORNBURY suffered defeat at the hands of Weston-super-Mare in their first home game back in Premier One.

After being put in the field, Thornbury made a good start with Juvaunie Gayle removing opening batsman Edd Brown for a duck caught by Kylander, who then had Gary Morgan caught by Steven Ford for five.

Sam Trego hit 30 before he was caught and bowled by Gayle (2-37).

Jackson Davey (87*) then put on 120 with opener Simon Green, who eventually became Kylander’s second victim when he was caught by Richard Trotman for 72.

Kylander finished his ten overs with 4-59 after bowling Shabil Ahmed (13) and having Sean Stringer stumped by Hamish Reeves.

Thornbury made a good start to the chase with Nick Stovold and Ian Blakemore putting on 74 for the first wicket before the latter fell for 29.

Ford was then ran out for ten and Gayle (5) and Stovold (43) soon followed as Thornbury slumped to 98-4.

Trotman (18) shared 59 with Wayne Kylander (32) before both fell in quick succession to leave the score at 159-6.

Greg Stephens struck 33 off just 23 balls down the order but Thornbury were eventually all out with eight balls of their innings remaining.
