FOREST Green players will make a surprise appearance at Gary Neville’s testimonial at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
Chairman Dale Vince brokered the deal after his green energy company Ecotricity decided to sponsor the match to tie in with Neville’s green ethos.
Dave Hockaday’s squad will enter the Theatre of Dreams at half-time to take part in a penalty shoot against Sir Alex Ferguson’s stars.
Vince said: “We're making this a wind powered match, not the first in the world – because Forest Green already do that – but the first at this level of the game.
“Gary Neville was keen to lower the carbon impact of his testimonial and to demonstrate how sport can be greener.
“It's area he has a big interest in and so we hooked up to do this.”
Vince added: “Forest Green will make an appearance at half-time in a penalty shoot out with Man United – it should be an awesome evening for the board of directors.”
