CRAIG MILES reflected on his first class debut for Gloucestershire at the age of only 16 and admitted: “It’s a day I shall never forget.”
The Filton College student was drafted into the team for the LV=County Championship match against Northants at Bristol when Liam Norwell pulled out with a muscle strain.
After being summoned to the ground as cover, Miles was suddenly presented with his county cap by Jon Lewis and went on to claim his maiden first class wicket when he had Alex Wakely caught by Chris Taylor at short extra cover.
“I’ll never forget that wicket or the day in general,” said Miles.
“I didn’t know I was playing until about 45 minutes before the start when Alex Gidman told me Liam was injured.”
