JAMIE STEPHENS has finished his first season at Liverpool Academy by collecting a save of the season award at Bolton Wanderers' Reebok Stadium.
The 17-year-old who grew up in Wotton-under-Edge took the gong for a save he made away to Manchester United on April 4 at an event hosted by the Premiership Youth Development Conference.
The ceremony was hosted by television presenter Vernon Kay and over 300 guests from the world of sport were in attendance.
Nominations for save of the season were submitted by all the Premiership Academy teams and were short-listed to three on the night, where the audience participated in a vote.
Stephens, who played youth football for Wotton Wickwar, Kingswood and Forest Green before joining Swindon Town, beat other young goalkeepers from Everton and Fulham to win the award.
