LEAGUE leaders Stone maintained their fine start to the season with a third successive victory over Woodpeckers.

After being put into bat, Stone opening batsman Trevor Burley hit three fours and one six before falling for 24.

Adam Palmer (30) then shared 58 with Darren Turl, who added another 48 with skipper Pete Lavis (12) to put Stone in a strong position.

Pete Booth smashed two sixes in an unbeaten 21 to boost the home side’s total.

Ian Hall then did most of the damage with the ball, taking 4-43 from his 12 overs as Woodpeckers failed to trouble Stone’s total.

Pete Lavis also took 3-38, while Charlie Viney finished with 2-30.
