Cam suffered their first defeat of the season after an abject performance against Corse and Staunton.

After winning the toss Ben Williams elected to bat and the opening three overs saw Peter Hall and Adam Holloway find three boundaries each before Hall was bowled by Gittings for 14.

Williams and Holloway managed to continue at the same rate, taking the score past 50, but in the blink of an eye both men were back in the pavilion after both being caught for 16 and 19 respectively.

The in-form Gareth Udal and a rejuvenated Scott Kalus added runs freely to the scoreboard.

Kalus managed to clear the trees back over the bowler’s head, whilst Udal played a supporting role, rotating the strike.

Kalus found boundaries easy to come by, reaching his milestone of 50 from the same amount of balls.

Udal was bowled soon after for 37 and from this moment Cam’s batting line-up took up roles of lemmings as they seeming jumped over the cliff.

Ryan Western, Tommy Deakin and the unfortunate Kalus all fell within ten balls of each other, Kalus finishing on 59.

Matt Tipper and Graeme Brown added another 15 to the score before Tipper was bowled for nine.

Edward Rendall added another eight before Ben Holloway ended Cam’s innings, running himself out without facing a ball, leaving Brown on 12 not out.

With Eddie Rendall sustaining an injury in his opening three overs, Cam’s bowling attack of Holloway and Tipper tried to stem the run flow.

Holloway claimed the opening wicket of Ian Robson, caught behind by Hall.

Shaun Turner and Mat Dudfield used the quick outfield to their advantage and increased the run rate.

Tipper claimed his first of two wickets as Turner played one too many shots in the air and Deakin ran round from mid-on to take the catch.

Dudfield became Tipper’s second victim, this time Adam Holloway taking the catch.

With Western entering the attack and taking the wicket of Goolden for 17 after a catch from Williams, Cam seemed to think they were in with a chance.

Some slack fielding and a lack of urgency was punished by Paul Tyrer (45) and Steve Dannatt (57) which saw Corse coast to victory with ten overs to go.
