CURTIS McDonald has penned a one-year deal to remain at the New Lawn-and Cirencester Town keeper Matt Bulman is set to seal a two-year contract this week.

Left-sided utility player McDonald, 23, returned to Rovers in March after an ill-fated spell with Newport County.

McDonald said: “In hindsight I made a mistake leaving Forest Green, but the move was hard to turn down, however, I was pleased how I did when I returned.”

Cardiff-based McDonald insists retaining goalkeeper James Bittner and signing defender Chris Todd will boost Rovers’ fortunes next season.

He said: “Keeping James Bittner and signing Chris Todd is absolutely awesome and with the core of the side secured we have a great chance of doing well.”

Meanwhile, Hockaday is set to snap up former Swindon Town goalkeeper Bulman from Cirencester.

Bulman, 24, is making the switch to full-time football after another fine season for the Centurions.

Rovers have already extended the contract of their No1 keeper James Bittner, widely acknowledged as one of the best keepers in the Blue Square Premier, but he will be put under great pressure by Bulman who has agreed a two-year deal at the New Lawn.

Hockaday said: “Matt Bulman will push for the No1 spot. He kicks the ball a country mile-and is one for the future.”
