DURSLEY under-11s took part in a very special Land Rover Parade of Champions at the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final on Saturday in front of a sell-out Twickenham crowd.
Proud sponsor Land Rover gave this unique opportunity to the youngsters after they won the Gloucester Rugby Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup in April.
The young rugby enthusiasts got to watch the exciting battle where Saracens were crowned Aviva Premiership champions.
Not only did they get to see their heroes play at the home of England Rugby, but they also got to parade around the pitch at half-time to celebrate their Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup win.
The team’s excitement on the day was clear and youngster Ben Bosh-Cole said: “I can’t believe I went to Twickenham stadium and got to go on the pitch at half-time of the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final.
“It was really exciting to walk out there in front of so many people, it was an amazing atmosphere and I now really want to play there when I’m older.
“I’m so pleased we won the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup.”
Colin Green, Managing Director of Land Rover UK, said: “It gives us great delight that through the Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup these young, aspiring rugby players are able to fulfil a dream and come to Twickenham. “The tournament is a significant initiative of which we are very proud, and which provides a unique opportunity for young players to channel their enthusiasm for the sport and to play in a national tournament.”
Dursley won this once in a lifetime opportunity when the team took part in a series of games which concluded in an exciting final.
The Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup is a grass roots initiative run in conjunction with Premier Rugby and Land Rover, the official vehicle of both Premiership Rugby, England Rugby and now the Rugby World Cup.
Through this, over 7,000 aspiring young players take part in under-11 and under-12 festivals all over the country each year.
