A depleted Almondsbury side entertained Stoke Bishop on Saturday and ran out victors thanks to a fine all round performance by Tom Armfield.
Skipper Andy Parkinson lost the all important toss and found his team batting on a very sticky wicket.
Jack Kewley soon fell to a ball that stopped on him but Parkinson found a willing partner in Tom Armfield and the pair dug deep to pull the situation round.
Parkinson was eventually out for a fine 56.
Armfield continued to graft his way forward and he too brought up his half-century but was finally dismissed for 52 trying to increase the scoring rate.
Liam Hartigan (12) scored some quick runs but Ross Wakely hit 30, including three sixes and two fours, and Aaron Jones’ 22 ensured Almondsbury set a more than competitive challenge.
Almondsbury’s bowlers started well as Armfield sent back Raj, caught behind by Jack Kewley for four.
Wilkins soon followed lbw again to Armfield for one and when Waller was caught at extra cover by Wakely off Aaron Jones for two, the writing was on the wall for the visiting side.
Armfield claimed his third wicket, having Hamish (5) caught at silly point again by Wakely, and when Aaron Jones sent back the swash buckling opener Barber for 25 Stoke Bishop were in trouble at 42-5.
Andy Parkinson tinkered with his bowling attack to prise out the lower order and this proved successful.
Armfield added fine bowling figures of 9.4-3-26-5 to to his half -century and was well backed up by Aaron Jones with 10-2-21-2, Phil Mortimore (6-1-30-1) and Paul Beevers (6-0-28-1).
