STRIKER Charlie Griffin insists his experience of winning the Blue Square Premier will pave the way for a bright Forest Green future.
“I have great experience of this league, I won it with Stevenage and scored a lot of goals,” said Griffin.
“I am a winner and want to go higher with Forest Green.”
Former Swindon Town hitman Griffin, 31, first played for Rovers seven years ago, scoring 20 league and cup goals, and his scoring exploits saw him sign for League Two Wycombe at the end of that season.
He rejoined Rovers the following season on loan under Gary Owers, but returned to Wycombe following Jim Harvey’s appointment.
“I am very pleased to be back and the gaffer has impressed me with what he has had to say. He wants to go places and unlike a lot of managers he means it.”
The journeyman striker remains hungry for success in the twilight of his career and is certain he can kick-on with Rovers.
“I have looked after myself and not returned to sit back. I have comeback to work my socks off and want to get the club right up the league and amongst the play-offs.”
It will be a case of friends reunited for Griffin.
He said: “I have played with Chris Todd, James Bittner, Wayne Turk and Scott Bartlett and it will be a pleasure to work with them again.
“I am also looking forward to helping the younger boys like Reece Styche and James Norwood.”
* Forest Green are looking to create the first organic pitch after spreading cow manure on it.
Chairman Dale Vince, who owns green electricity company Ecotricity, is set to meet with the Soil Association today to discuss what the club needs to do to become officially organic.
