STONE were knocked off the top of the table after being beaten by Apperley on Saturday.

After winning the toss and deciding to bowl first, Stone skipper Pete Lavis took 4-68 from his 12 overs but 64 from Luke Smith saw the home side pass the 200 mark.

Charlie Viney finished with impressive figures of 3-38 from 12 overs, while Ian Hall and Glen Moudler took one wicket apiece.

Stone opening batsman Trevor Burley hit 40, but Adam Palmer (5), Darren Turl (8) and Viney (4) all went early on.

Lavis scored 34, but the only other Stone batsmen to reach double figures were Peter Booth (14) and last man Moulder, who finished unbeaten on 14 as they were bowled out inside 40 overs.

Hugh Leeke did most of the damage with the ball, taking 4-20 in 12 overs.

l Stone 2nds were bowled out for 72 as they fell to an 84-run defeat at home to Newent.

The visitors made 156-8, with James Barnes taking 5-36, but Tom Devries then ripped apart Stone’s top and middle order with 5-17 as only Christopher Barnes made double figures with 32.

Frampton-on-Severn’s game against Woodpeckers was abandoned, but their 2nd team were involved in a thrilling game at Down Hatherley.

After making 151-9, Calum Nicholson put Frampton on the brink of victory with 5-46, but Alan Spencer hit 83 not out to give guide the hosts over the line with one wicket to spare.
