The Ridge School won the athletics competition at the South Gloucestershire Festival of Youth Sports on Saturday.
The event was held at Yate Outdoor Sports Centre as schools from across South Gloucestershire took part in a wide variety of sports.
The organising team from South Gloucestershire battled against poor weather to make a success of the occasion.
As part of their preparation for the competition The Ridge children received three hours of coaching from an athletics coach.
They had to learn the skills of throwing the hammer, vortex javelin, triple jump, standing long jump and speed bounce and then the track events of 60m, 600m and hurdles.
The children had to compete in one event from each category so they needed to be versatile athletes.
The team of four boys and four girls then joined together to run a relay.
Out of the 11 schools that competed in the athletics competition, The Ridge team finished 76 points ahead of the next placed team.
The Ridge team: Ellie Jerome, Scarlet Boulton, Lauren Hodge, Lauren Pinker, Chester Powell, Jack Brain, Stephen Hobbs and Max Wiltshire.
