GLOUCESTERSHIRE captain Alex Gidman will miss the next two Friends Life t20 matches against Hampshire on Friday evening and Middlesex on Sunday afternoon.

He is also doubtful for the crucial County Championship clash against Middlesex, which starts at Uxbridge on Monday, after sustaining a knee injury.

Gidman hit 76 not out in Gloucestershire’s win over Surrey, which saw them move up to third in Division Two of the Championship earlier this week, and they would leapfrog Middlesex into second place if they could make it back-to-back victories.

Will Gidman is set to replace his brother for the two t20 games with New Zealand international Kane Williamson taking over as skipper.
