NEWLY promoted Cam were given a rude awakening to life in Division Five as they were comprehensively beaten by Ullenwood.

Cam opted to bowl first and Alex Ballard made inroads into the visitors’ batting lineup, claiming four wickets for 33 runs off seven overs.

Matt Tipper (3-28) bagged three victims, while Ryan Rice (1-28) and Stephen Ballard (1-33) took one wicket apiece.

Tight bowling by Steve Rice was finally rewarded when he took the last wicket of Ullenwood’s innings, going for just ten runs off his 6.1 overs.

Opening batsman Richard Gill hit 50 exactly for the visitors, and found support from Mark Leach (23) and Bashir Saffy (28).

Openers Steve Rice (20) and Ben Williams (13) got Cam’s reply off to a decent start but Ryan Rice was the only other batsman to reach double figures with 11 not out as Cam crumbled.

Saffy did most of the damage with the ball, taking 4-19, with Leach claiming three wickets.
