WHEN the season shuts down young footballers may head to Marbella, Mallorca or Las Vegas for their holidays, but Forest Green midfielder Keiron Forbes is jetting off to Moscow, writes Ashley Loveridge.

But a big Russian chill-out is off the radar for the former Watford midfielder after he was named in a 18-man England non-League side to face Russia on June 5.

He will join up with the squad at the end of the month ahead of their trip to Moscow for the second of three International Challenge Trophy games.

The match will be played in the 19,000 capacity Khimky Arena, home of Russian Premier League giants CSKA Moscow and Moscow Dynamo.

The 21-year-old was part of the England C side for their International Challenge Trophy opener against Italy at Fleetwood Town in February.

There he joined Rovers team-mates Eddie Oshodi and Jamie Turley in the starting line-up as Paul Fairclough’s men claimed a 1-1 draw.

Forbes said: “I am happy to be involved again and have no holidays booked, so to go to Russia will be an amazing experience.”

Forbes was also an integral part of the Rovers midfield engine room last season, scoring three goals in 43 appearances.
