DURSLEY archer Kieran Slater narrowly missed out on a bronze medal in his first international competition since moving up to the under-21s.
Slater helped the Great Britain team reach the bronze medal match at the Europa Cup in Croatia, but they lost 214-211 to Italy.
They missed out on the final by losing 214-210 to Ukraine.
The 18-year-old shot well in the qualification round, but was knocked out in the first head-to-head round and finished 17th overall.
Slater was happy with his performance and is now looking forward to the European Championships in Denmark in July.
He said: “We were really pleased because it’s the furthest we’ve got as a team.
“I was pleased with my individual performance. It should put me in good stead for the European Championships.”
