SAQLAIN MUSHTAQ, Ian Harvey and Devon Malcolm are amongst the star names in the Lashings World XI squad that are set to play against Rockhampton on Friday, May 25.
The well renowned invitational side announced their side for their first game of 2012 this week and skipper Phil DeFreitas, John Emburey and Wasim Jaffer are expected to return to the Boundary Field after playing in the first match between the sides last year.
A World Cup winner with Australia, Harvey is well known to cricket fans in the county as he helped Gloucestershire win six one-day trophies in his first spell at the club between 1999 and 2003.
However, another Gloucestershire legend who is a member of the Lashings squad, Courtney Walsh, was not named in the side.
Former Pakistan internationals Mushtaq, Imran Nazir and Mohammmed Akram, Indian batsman Jaffer, who hit a century against Rockhampton last year, and New Zealanders Ian Butler – another former Gloucestershire all-rounder – Lou Vincent and former England bowler Ed Giddins are set to feature, but the team is subject to changes at the last minute.
Tickets for the day cost £6 (£1 if under-16) and are available from GAPS DIY on 01454 412569 or GT Sports on 01454 419242. Alternatively, email rockhamptoncc@gmail.com Limited numbers of corporate tables for a 12.30pm lunch with a player from the Lashings team are available, as are tables without a player and there will also be an auction.
