HAWKESBURY recorded their second victory in a row against Cirencester.

After being put into bat, Gavin Bailey got the hosts off to a good start with a top score of 61.

He was well supported by fellow opener William Ireland (22) before he was removed by Jonathan Turner (3-24), who also accounted for Jeremy Westwood (5) and Joe Salt (0).

James Crighton hit 46 and skipper Dan Blackwell finished unbeaten on 38 to help Hawkesbury past the 200 mark.

Crighton then made an early breakthrough with the ball, having Jim Woodcock caught behind by George Setterfield for a duck.

William Ireland bowled Tom Dykes (4) before Andy Cooper (18) fell the same way to Westwood (1-24).

Salt did the damage to the middle order, bowling Dominic Jeffcott (7) and Clive Brown (0) and trapping Bramwell Coleman (8) lbw to finish with 3-8 from nine overs.

Tim Chancellor (1-11) got in on the act when he hit Matt Carter’s (9) pads in front of the stumps before Crighton (3-16) returned to remove Trev Hillier (7) and last man Robert Watson (0), sandwiched by another wicket for Ireland (2-19), who had Turner (1) caught by Salt.

Despite being the only team to win two games, Hawkesbury are third behind league leaders Bharat Sports and Haresfield, who they visit this Saturday, as the two teams above them have only played once and have a better average.
