DURSLEY runner Garry Hughes showed that the training regime that had blunted his speed in his victory at the Berkeley 10k was time well spent.
Competing for Tri-Team-Gloucester in the Db Max 9Bar Standard Triathlon, held in Bradford-on-Avon, he finished first overall.
Beaten to the fastest time by a matter of seconds on both the swim and on the bike, once he was on his feet Hughes was unstoppable, finishing one minute and 36 seconds ahead of the next fastest runner and three minutes ahead of the second placed competitor.
Result: Garry Hughes – Swim 15:25 (2nd), T1 01:58, Bike 01:01:21 (2nd), T2 00:35, Run 32:46 (1st), Overall 01:52:07 (1st).
Along with 11,000 other runners Dursley RC’s Gareth Bradbury and Sarah Crabtree lined up for the Bristol 10k on Sunday.
Both ran well in the biggest 10k event in the country with Bradbury finishing 775th in 43:39 and Crabtree 3951st in 54:24.
The club had a sole representative at the Tewkesbury Half, Kate Browning finishing well up the field in 218th in a time of 01:41:07.
The club runs from Dursley Rugby Club on Tuesday nights. Meet 6.15pm for 6.30pm. Visit www.dursleyac.org.uk/cms for information.
